a sudden rash and a lighting struck 500m away

i will add some photos later <3

thursday

We started the day early in the morning since I wasn't able to sleep much because I was too excited about the festival. My best friend Melina (where I stayed overnight) and I got ready and met some of her friends at 8am. Together we drove to the first McDonalds we could find for a good breakfast and headed to the location where the festival was taking place. We arrived, we carried our heavy stuff with handcarts to the camp and made ourselves at home for the upcoming days. Our camp looked quite cutesy with all of the fairy lights! ✨
First act we saw was the german band Juli and after that nothing much had happened, except for Melina and me going to the after-party. We had a GREAT time there, partying until the early hours and went back to our camp. I instantly headed to the showers and got a good nights (or mornings) sleep.

But not for long, since the heavy rain and THUNDER were too loud to ignore. Like, the ground was even shaking at some point. I woke up, realising that something was glowing against my tent. I was curious whether it was hot, so I touched it, finding out that our canopy tent was more crooked than someone trying to win the lowest limbo dance, which ended up putting a dent into my tent (lol). After the others and I fixed that, I went back to sleep and learned that the thundergrowl, which ended up shaking the ground, was actually a lighting strike just 500m away from our camp. Luckily no one got hurt, but istg that was a bit scary. Especially since we had to be evacuated last year for the same reason. I am still wondering why we didn't have to be this time, since it was even more dangerous than last year... but I can imagine waking 87.000 people and making them walk to their cars was more dangerous than just leaving us asleep in our tents. That way we wouldn't walk around and risk getting hit.

this brings us to friday

Friday was just amazing. I didn't spend much time in the sun and tried to avoid it as much as possible. I met a lot of people after the sun went down and I could live my life to the fullest without getting sunburned. (am I secretly a vampire???) I got to see Kraftklub, Yungblud, The Offspring and MY personal highlight of the day: Roy Bianco & Die Abbrunzati Boys. I fell in love with them last year at our local wine festival. The vibes are just immaculate, and even though that genre is actually not really my cup of tea, they got me hooked. The best part is that I saw them live at my very first hurricane festival in 2024 and thought "urgh, why would anyone listen to that" and then 2 years later I ended up in the crowd singing as loud as I could LMAO I really, really enjoyed them. When I think about it, they weren't just the highlight of the day, but the entire festival (music-wise). On that day Melina and I didn't go to the after-party because we were just too tired and FINALLY got a good nights sleep for once!

saturday was the day that broke me

It's safe to say that I am somewhat allergic'ish to the sun and/or heat, because after two days, I developed a rash and some eczema that were so itchy I want to scrape my skin off. Sorry to anyone who is immediately imagining things, but my skin just hates everything right now. I am so happy that I still have a few days off work to recover! But I actually managed to just ignore it most of the day because I was busy trying not to overheat and sunburn. Of course we played some drinking games with our neighbours and I couldn't avoid the sun any longer, but I did when I could. And I always(!) put on sun lotion. Luckily, the acts I wanted to see were playing later in the evening when the sun wouldn't be dangerous for me anymore. For example I got to see All Time Low, Natasha Bedingfield, Leoniden and the star of the night: Twenty One Pilots. ♥️ They put up an amazing show!! I highly recommend going to their tour if they're touring near you.
Melina and I couldn't find an end to the night this time tho. Not only did we go to the after-party, noo.. we met a friend and started exploring other camps as well. Since we had a little beer here and there we were being a bit funny. But our camp wasn't just a regular camp, it was the green camp. That means, that ur not allowed to make loud noises until 8am! Someone from the hurricane team noticed us and warned us, that if we weren't quiet from now on (we were just giggling tho LMAO) we had to take a course on how to behave during nighttime! Like were they actually serious?? We almost volunteered to do it because it would've been such an iconic thing to do at a festival. Like a crash course on how to behave so we can stay on the green camp and not get expelled to the regular camp, but they said no. We were able to mute our laughs and kept on exploring and met some really strange but nice people. At 10am I decided that I was more than tired enough to go to bed - and you won't believe it - I only slept for 2 hours because my tent decided to become a pop-up sauna. UGH.

so sunday was a really tired experience

For most of the day I was just existing, not doing anything but watching my friends play drinking games and talking to our neighbours. My energy was lower than that canopy tent on thursday (I had to remind you, I was in such panic in that moment LMAO). Then again, the acts I wanted to see were playing later in the evening with the exception of A Day To Remember. They were playing during the absolute hottest hours so we just attempted to find a shady area. We managed to find some next to a food stall. We left ADTR a little early tho because Melina and I felt like we would fall asleep while standing (hence us not sleeping much the night before.. whoopsie) so we had the idea to go back to the camp and wait for the next act to regain some energy. We took our mattresses out of our tents and just slept in the open. It was nice really. On our way back to the field I got to hear a song by Halsey and it was also really good! I thought her concert would be somewhat boring (even though her songs are good) but it was surprisingly very nice! After enjoying that one song (it was the end of her show) we went to Provinz. It matched our energy to be honest. They are not really known for partying all night but rather having emotional lyrics which fitted the vibe. But again, we didn't watch the full show and left earlier to grab something to eat and head back to the camp to get a really good nights sleep.
