my Billie Eilish experience03. May '25, 5:19 pm

I started my day calmly, getting ready around 2 PM for the Billie Eilish concert in Hannover. With the warm weather in mind, I packed a bottle of water and headed to the train station feeling relaxed and very excited. My outfit was simple but cute, with a chain on my wallet and a necklace th at gave off the "lovely"-era Billie vibe. 🖤

On the way to Hannover, a girl with a similar concert-ready style boarded the train. She wore a blue sporty top and baggy capris. I thought, "She's definitely going too." I was inside the train with a good seat and surprisingly didn't even need music to get in the mood. Just watching the world pass by was enough.

But oh boy, things got more chaotic once I reached the city. While I expected sunshine and 25°C, rain greeted me instead 🌧️ Still, I made my way underground to catch the "U8" tram. I ran into the same girl from the train earlier and asked if she was headed to the concert too and whether we were on the right platform. She said yes and then promptly put her earbuds back in and after a few minutes, she wandered off without another word. As it turned out, we were on the wrong side, and she left without telling me. 🥲

A bit lost, I called my friend Felix in a mild panic: "How do I get to ZAG Arena?" He guided me to take the U8 toward "Messe". I had to change platforms, so I would take the correct tram to correct direction. I got there right at 5:30 PM, which was perfect timing for concert entry. I walked onto the "Messe" grounds and suddenly heard… trumpets? 🎺 That's when I realized I was on the wrong side. I was at "Messe" North BUT THE CONCERT IS AT "MESSE" EAST. AAAAAHHH

Another call to Felix, took the tram back to where I started and went with another tram, and finally made it to the correct location at 6:30 PM. The queue was still massive - people as far as the eye could see. I took a quick break at a nearby café, then grabbed a beer and joined the line. I ended up chatting with a few kind strangers, which lifted my spirits.

Once inside, my online ticket refused to load due to poor internet connection. Panic again, but eventually it worked. I grabbed another beer, visited the merch stand for a BLOHSH necklace (as seen above), and made my way to my seat just in time to catch the end of Tom Odell's set.

A long pause followed. I chatted with the girl next to me, who was also attending alone. We bonded quickly. But the break dragged on, and all the beer caught up with me.I decided to run for the restroom. Just as I got there, the crowd started screaming. I panicked, thinking Billie had come on stage. Thankfully, false alarm and some random music started playing again.

Once back in my seat, the lights dimmed and the show began. And what a show it was.

Every single song hit. I danced, I screamed, I sang. So loudly, in fact, that most of the videos I took will never see Instagram.
What I posted tho I put into a Highlight on Instagram you can watch here!
When the concert ended, I exchanged Instagram handles with the girl beside me and made my way to the tram. It was PACKED. I ended up chatting with a lovely mum and her daughter (about 20). The mum asked if we could walk to the station together since it gets weird out there at night. So we did 👣

Then came the final leg of the journey: last train back home. But of course my train had to stop in Hameln due to a ✨bureaucratic issue✨ and we had to take another one, which was frustrating. On that ride, I had shared a compartment with two middle-aged siblings who didn't exactly create a peaceful atmosphere. Before the transfer, the woman asked where we needed to change trains. I said "probably the same platform" But nope it wasn’t. I saw from across the station they hadn't followed, so I went back and told them where to go. Guess I collected some good karma points here.

Once back in my hometown, hunger struck and I stopped by McDonald's which was crowded and chaotic, so sadly a 2/10 experience. Then I only went home and into bed. My legs and heels were aching, but after a shower, I felt fresh and recharged.

The day had its ups and downs, but in the end, the experience was unforgettable. Going solo turned out to be a beautiful choice. I had full freedom, met great people, and most importantly I didn't miss out on Billie only because I was anxious about going alone.
Would I do it all again?

In a heartbeat. 💙
